Overview
Microsoft Azure OpenAI brings OpenAI models into Azure with enterprise identity, networking, and compliance controls.
You provision an Azure OpenAI (Cognitive Services) resource in the Azure portal, then use resource keys or Entra ID auth per Microsoft Learn docs.
How to Get an API Key
- Sign in to the Azure portal and open the Cognitive Services OpenAI create experience linked here.
- Create an Azure OpenAI resource in an allowed region and wait until it is ready.
- In the resource, copy keys or configure Microsoft Entra ID authentication as documented.
- Deploy a model and call the Azure endpoint using the base URL and credentials from Microsoft Learn.

Azure OpenAI runs under your Azure subscription with Azure IAM, networking, and regional controls. OpenAI.com is a separate product path.

Does Get Model Key provide Azure keys?
No. Keys are created inside your Azure resource after you provision the service officially.
